Service from A - Z

Service from A - Z

Well supplied all around

We offer our residents and relatives a wide range of services, support and assistance in everyday life. We have listed the most important points and answers as well as information on the subject of care alphabetically below:

We have fixed, oral permanent medications machine-packed by our partner pharmacy "Hirsch Apotheke" in cooperation with the pharmaceutical service provider "Rheinland Blister". Our residents thus receive their prescribed medications in a transparent blister bag for each time they take them.

Why this step?

It is very important to us that medication is dispensed and monitored under pharmaceutical supervision. Prescriptions can thus be checked in advance for side effects and incompatibilities. If necessary, our partner pharmacy consults with the attending physician. This supply concept also facilitates - thanks to an automated range calculation - the timely reordering of the required medication. In this way, we can provide your relatives/care recipients with even better medical and pharmaceutical care.

We work together with established physicians and specialists. Of course, the free choice of doctor remains unaffected.

We are happy to assist in finding general practitioners and specialists. Home visits take place regularly. If a visit to a doctor's office is necessary, we will try to support you (e.g. transport, escort) if relatives are not able to accompany you.

In addition to the general practitioners (family doctors), the following specialists also carry out home visits with us:

  • Dermatologists
  • ENT physicians
  • Gynecologists
  • Neurologists

Since ophthalmologic examinations cannot be carried out at the clinic, we offer 1x yearly eye tests by a mobile optician.

In addition to the eye tests, he checks existing glasses and, if necessary, makes recommendations for a new purchase as well as for any necessary examinations by an ophthalmologist.

  • Dental care

Good and regular dental care is also very important in terms of maintaining the ability to chew. Diseases in the oral cavity, ill-fitting dentures and pressure points are often causes of inadequate food intake. In cooperation with the local dentist Dr. Babori, we offer regular preventive check-ups at our facility.

The home visits take place 2x a year. The costs for the services provided are covered by the statutory health insurance. Should a treatment become necessary, for which the question of cost coverage would have to be clarified beforehand, this is of course done in advance with the responsible persons (e.g. relatives, guardians).

The first contact

We look forward to the initial contact with you. This can be done by telephone, in writing or in person. You are welcome to contact us at 02224 / 93 96 - 0. Our employees will forward you directly to the nursing service management or facility management. You are also welcome to send us an e-mail with your request at kontakt@marienhof-seniorenzentrum.de. Upon request, we will send you our information folder by mail. During the first contact you will receive competent and binding information about the possibilities of an admission and/or an appointment.

Information / consultation

In order to get a realistic picture of our facility, it is possible to make an appointment for a consultation before a possible admission. During the consultation you will not only have the opportunity to see our facility, but also to learn more about our services, but also to ask questions and let us know your expectations. Among other things, you will be informed about the financing options as well as the legally required preliminary information according to the Housing and Participation Act.

Admission interview

The intake interview is about moving in on a case-by-case basis. This interview serves to prepare the admission to our facility well. We will now discuss the financing options and advise you once again about the range of services. The information necessary for admission is discussed, the relevant documents are prepared, presented or handed over. The concrete date of moving in is fixed. During the joint meeting, the data required for the home contract is collected. A date for the actual conclusion of the home or short-term care contract, including the relevant annexes, is agreed in good time, if necessary. The contract should be signed on the day of admission at the latest. You will receive a checklist on which you can check off all the necessary documents, aids and clothing that you should bring with you.

In this conversation, we will also go into detail about aspects relevant to nursing and care. We would like to record abilities, problems, habits and wishes in various subject areas in order to act in the best interests of our future resident/guest from the very beginning.

  • Topic 1: cognitive and communicative abilities
  • Subject area 2: mobility and mobility
  • Topic 3: disease-related requirements and stresses
  • Topic area 4: self-care
  • Topic area 5: Living in social relationships
  • Topic area 6: Living / domesticity

With the information now available, the appropriate documents can be prepared for the respective departments (administration, nursing, home technology, housekeeping and social services) in order to prepare for the move-in.

The move-in day

Our staff will welcome you on the day of admission and accompany you to your room. The nurse on duty will clarify current medical and nursing issues with you, as well as your dining preferences. In addition, you will be shown around the hospital, e.g. how to operate the bell system and how to use the bed.

In the following days, the employees of the social service will introduce themselves to you. They will show you around our facility and tell you about the leisure activities and activities offered by our home. You are cordially invited to participate.

We will accompany you very closely during the next few days. We would like to get to know you better and make you feel safe and secure.

Visitors are always welcome at our GFO Center Bad Honnef - Wohnen & Pflege Marienhof. Therefore, there are no fixed visiting hours. However, they are asked to observe the quiet times and to show consideration for the needs of the residents and the work of the staff.

In the interest of all, the following quiet times should be observed:

  • Noon rest: 12.30 p.m. - 2.00 p.m.
  • Night rest: from 8.00 p.m.

The administration is available from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 15:45.

Due to the pandemic, there may be restrictions. Relatives will be informed of this by e-mail or letter post and there will be a corresponding notice on the entrance door.

Our in-house cafeteria is the central meeting place in our GFO Center Bad Honnef - Wohnen & Pflege Marienhof. It is accessible at all times and invites you to linger in comfort. Many of our leisure activities take place in the cafeteria. The ambience and the space offer the possibility for many different offers and events.

Our cafeteria, which is lovingly decorated according to the season, offers a place for our residents to take their meals together and independently. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner here. External guests can also take part in the meals, depending on the space available and after prior registration. The respective prices can be inquired at the reception.

In addition, the cafeteria offers a place where residents and their visitors can go between meals to drink coffee together. A vending machine with various hot beverages is available for self-service.

It is also used for larger events and celebrations. Among other things, group activities take place here, e.g. bingo, reading hour and creative groups. But also festivities such as our carnival meeting, find here the right place. It is also used as a meeting room, e.g. team meetings, further training and also family evenings.

Before moving into an inpatient care facility, there are many things for relatives and future residents to consider and arrange. We have therefore compiled a CHECKLIST to provide you with assistance and orientation. If you would like further information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our EMPLOYEES personally.

Quality in nursing is also based on compliance with so-called expert standards. These quality instruments are developed by recognized experts and reflect the current state of knowledge in the profession. It goes without saying that our hospital also works in accordance with these expert standards. You can find out more about the individual expert standards by clicking on the individual sub-items:

If you are interested in further information, please contact the nursing service management, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We celebrate the festivals as they fall! Festivals and celebrations are an important part of every day's life. Our social services team regularly organizes parties, celebrations, outings and entertaining events. In doing so, our employees always take into account the wishes and needs of our residents. We base our offerings on the seasons in order to bring them to life. Depending on the occasion, the festivities take place on the resident's floor or as a house community. They can take place in the kitchens of the residential floors, the cafeteria - including the foyer if necessary - and in our inner courtyard. Depending on the occasion, e.g. summer party, relatives are also cordially invited.

Here you will find our current SCHEDULE CALENDAR.

We receive support from the ecumenical hospice service in Bad Honnef in the care of the seriously ill and dying as well as in grief counseling.

Hospice work - still life

In hospice work, we are repeatedly made familiar with life situations in which someone sees the steps ahead of him, has the desire that his life, as it was and is, is and remains secure in the midst of life. And the fears that we encounter in a companionship can be summed up in the fear that dying is no longer part of life, falls out of it, happens apart from it. And often this is also the fear of those who belong to the life of the person affected.

Hospice work can also be summarized in the one task from which its tasks are explained: To enable the experience that life does not stop even in dying. What does that mean? Or to put it another way: What can it mean? It can mean that the person affected knows that he or she is safe and secure in relationships that carry more weight than his or her illness and the restrictions and losses that result from it. That what is essential remains - and can be experienced in these relationships. That the accompanied person is and remains in a dignity that is not lost to him - especially for the relatives one of the most precious and grateful experiences.

This often requires someone who "steps in from the outside", who is not part of the situation in which the person concerned and his or her relatives find themselves - and can thus open up and change this situation. Even a short impulse can do that: "Could it be that you can't speak right now because...?" And beyond the impulse, the knowledge (let) that someone approaches and accompanies - and in the accompaniment brings and offers the time that the employees in the facility and relatives often lack.

It is the experience that the situation is put back into one's hands - and that it is still life.

Our GFO Center Bad Honnef - Wohnen & Pflege Marienhof attaches great importance to climate protection. Within the scope of our possibilities, we constantly check the use of sustainable products and technology, especially for new acquisitions. Energy-saving lighting and insect-friendly planting are just a few examples of what we do.

Our food purchases in the areas of bakery products, meat products, fruit and vegetables are made from regional suppliers in order to avoid long transport routes. We constantly check and push the use of organic food.

In the case of acute illnesses, our residents benefit from the close contacts in the GFO network, which includes numerous hospitals. The proximity to the GFO hospital ensures short distances and a quick admission in case of need. Of course, there is a free choice of hospital.

Meals at the GFO Center Bad Honnef - Wohnen & Pflege Marienhof are tailored to the needs of the residents. A changing menu as well as the possibility to choose from different dishes provides for variety. Of course, dietetic food is taken into account.

All dishes are prepared from high-quality and fresh ingredients according to the latest nutritional science findings. The particularly gentle processing of food, in conjunction with optimal cooking times, guarantees a range of meals rich in vitamins and nutrients. The housekeeping staff prepares the meals and accompanies the residents in the kitchens of the living areas.

There are various meal times to choose from, so that residents can also select the time that suits them best.

Food keeps "body and soul" healthy

In our in-house kitchen, we offer tasty home-style cooking.

With the help of modern kitchen technology, regionally sourced, fresh and varied food is offered. In addition to our normal food, we also offer dietary and other types of food, e.g. vegetarian food, tailored to individual residents. At lunchtime, you have the option of choosing between two meals.

For breakfast and dinner, you can also choose from a wide range of products, including various types of rolls and bread, sweet and savory spreads and toppings, soups, eggs, and a variety of hot and cold beverages. In addition, fresh fruit is on offer every day. For afternoon coffee, we offer cake or cookies daily.

Meals are an important element in the daily routine. Therefore, we attach particular importance to an age-appropriate, healthy and tasty diet. We make every effort to cater to the wishes, habits and preferences of our seniors.

You have the option of taking your meals either in your room, in the company of others in an appealing atmosphere in the cafeteria or in the kitchens on the respective residential floor.

Malnutrition is often a problem that should not be underestimated among the elderly. In close cooperation with the residents, their relatives and family doctors, we responsibly address this issue. After a detailed analysis, the resulting individual measures are implemented.

At this point it should be mentioned that these measures can only be implemented with the consent of the resident or his/her representative.

External guests can participate in breakfast, lunch and dinner after registration. The guests receive the vouchers at the administration desk. Please ask at the reception for the current price list.

A person is considered to be in need of care if he or she is no longer able to look after him or herself independently due to age, illness or disability. In Germany, a wide variety of assistance systems are then in place. As a rule, people in need of care and their relatives are then also entitled to graduated financial support. To this end, the legislator has installed a system of care guarantees.

Since the reform of the classification and assessment of care needs in 2017, five care grades now apply (they have replaced the previous three care grades). Care grade 1 denotes the lowest level with the least need for support, while care grade 5 denotes the maximum level of assistance required for people in need of care. The five care levels are used as a basis for the financial benefits provided by payers, in particular the long-term care insurance fund.

Classification into care grades is based on six criteria, known as modules:

Module 1 "Mobility": the assessor looks at physical mobility. For example, can the person get up on his or her own and walk from the bed to the bathroom? Can he or she move around independently within his or her own four walls, is climbing stairs possible?

Module 2 "Mental and communicative abilities: This area covers understanding and talking. For example: Can the person concerned orient himself in time and space? Does he or she understand facts, recognize risks and can he or she hold conversations with other people?

Module 3 "Behavioral and psychological problems": This includes restlessness at night or fears and aggression, which are stressful for the person in need of care, but also for their relatives. This is also taken into account if there are defensive reactions to nursing measures.

Module 4 "Self-care": For example, can the applicant wash and dress him/herself, can he/she go to the toilet independently and eat and drink?

Module 5 "Dealing independently with requirements and stresses caused by illness or therapy - and coping with them": The assessor looks at whether the person concerned can, for example, take medication him/herself, measure blood sugar independently, use aids such as prostheses or a walker, and see a doctor.

Module 6 "Shaping everyday life and social contacts": For example, can the person concerned organize his or her daily routine independently? Can he or she come into direct contact with other people or go to the skat club without help?

The objective of our actions is that the residents feel comfortable and at home with us. We provide care according to professional and recognized standards. Good nursing and care is no coincidence, but follows certain professional criteria, requirements and the individual needs of each resident. We have compiled this for you in our CARE CONCEPT.

The price for a place in a nursing home is made up of several components. This is stipulated by law. These include the care itself, costs of room and board, and investment costs. The monthly costs are made up of these components and vary depending on the region and the home.

If residents are unable to cover the costs from their own resources, they can apply for "assistance with care" (according to § 61 SGB XII). In principle, every person in need of care is entitled to this assistance.

We have compiled the monthly prices for STATIONARY CARE and SHORT-TERM CARE for you.

We understand our house as a place of encounter. Regular devotions and meditations play an important role in everyday life and at special events.

Spiritual life is an essential and integral part of our holistic offer. Upon request, we offer pastoral care.

At the Marienhof, PASTORAL CARE is a top priority

As a Christian facility for the elderly, it is of great concern to us that our residents are not only well cared for and looked after, but can also feel comfortable here "with body and soul".

Therefore, we always have the whole person in mind, especially with their religious/spiritual wishes, needs and previous habits. The pastoral care in the Marienhof forms a separate department. This department is made up of employees from nursing and social services under the leadership of Ms. Melanie Eimermacher (pastoral care representative).

Among other things, we develop concepts, e.g. on the topic of "farewell culture", services of the word, e.g. memorial services for the deceased residents of the previous year and also organize these, agape celebrations, etc. Our work is supported by volunteers as well as by the Hospizverein Bad Honnef. This association is also available to relatives on request.

We receive a great deal of support from our parish worker, Mrs. Christiane Neuhalfen.

Mrs. Christiane Neuhalfen works as a parish assistant for the mission area Bad Honnef/Unkel in the church service. She is an employee of the Archdiocese of Cologne. Since 2013, she has been visiting the Marienhof Senior Center on a weekly basis. She sees her focus in pastoral visits to the residents. "I visit all residents who ask for a conversation, whether they are Catholic or not," Christiane Neuhalfen said. "I make it a point to spend time with the residents." She grants the residents of our house a protected space, she is subject to the duty of confidentiality, with her the seniors can get rid of their worries and problems or tell something joyful. Mrs. Neuhalfen succeeds in building up a relationship of trust, however, she emphasizes that not all problems can be solved, but talking to her eases the heart of many a resident. And sometimes this even leads to a conversation about faith.

Her duties also include assisting the dying and, as needed, she also talks with relatives seeking help. She also prepares and conducts special services, such as the memorial service for the deceased and the Ash Wednesday service.

Christiane Neuhalfen is also on duty at the Bad Honnef hospital. So she can accompany residents during a hospital stay. Seniors who move from the hospital to the Marienhof also benefit from this ideal connection.

When asked about a characteristic trait, she answers without hesitation: "My positive outlook on life, that I always pull an ounce of positivity out of everything!" And you can take her word for it.

Our social service is a specialized service for consultation, mediation, networking and coordination.

The team has the task of maintaining and increasing the quality of life of our residents in close consultation with all areas of our home. In order to achieve this, a variety of group and individual activities are offered. In addition to recurring offers, the team is always oriented to the seasons and the church year. The social service team is made up of social workers, nursing staff, support staff and interns.

The following recurring group events are offered in our house:

  • Excursions
  • Parties and celebrations
  • Music/common singing
  • Exercise activities
  • Household activities
  • EDV courses

In addition, there are various projects or excursions.

Our Seniorenzentrum Marienhof is located in the quiet Bad Honnef district of Rhöndorf, in an idyllic landscape at the foot of the forest, nestled between the Rhine and Drachenfels.

About 700m away is the "Adenauerhaus", which is worth a visit.

To the Bad Honnef city center and pedestrian zone with its various cafés, ice cream parlors, localities and shopping facilities, you have to walk 2 km.

The same applies to the island of Grafenwerth, which invites you to take a walk and spend some time there - here you can let your thoughts run free and develop wanderlust when the numerous ships pass by.

Sufficient parking is available at the streetcar terminus in front of it. From the terminal stop there is a flat footpath with a view of the Rhine to Königswinter, about 5 km long.

The purpose of the Housing and Participation Act in NRW (WTG) is to protect the dignity, rights, interests and needs of people who use housing and care services for older people or people in need of care and people with disabilities from impairment, to positively shape the framework conditions for care and nursing staff and to ensure compliance with the obligations incumbent on service providers. It is intended to guarantee elderly people or people in need of care and people with disabilities a self-determined life, to support their participation and co-determination, to promote transparency about the design and quality of care services, and to contribute to better cooperation between all responsible authorities. This is the opening text of the WTG of NRW.

Our facilities are also subject to the WTG. In the regular inspections, we have to demonstrate that we comply with all regulations.
